    congrats! I was wondering if it would have (ring) finger relief on both sides as the bottom can go two ways, but I waited, and all was explained. 😀 I am happy for your success. I guess you never need to play full chords because you play in Standard tuning and there really aren't any to play unless you're in some kind of Open tuning. I think.

    I ordered one. Ordered Ariel and Joey's too. Ordered their's from Amazon because cheaper and free shipping. But....The Rock should know you triggered my purchase of all 3. We'll see what I prefer. Probably will like something about them all. Next time Rhett. Next time.

    Hi Dylan how would you compare the feel and inside diameter to the Dunlap 212 or E.B. Comfort Slide (small) to your slide? Thanks!

  • @edersantana1315
    @edersantana1315 2 дня назад

    I ordered mine yesterday. I'll tell you what I think when it arrives. But I resonated with the "skinny pinky" problem. I feel like the standard small one sits in too deep and it feels uncomfortable to crook my finger. Just yesterday I was sticking paper inside to keep it tight a few inches before my knuckle and make it more comfortable. I hope yours will sit better 🤞. In any event, congratulations on your first signature piece! Wishing you the best and many more to come!

    A few things. He always had his Marshall dimed completely out, so volume had a LOT to do with his sound. He had Y-clipped the channels together - which gave him more gain. He was actually somewhat obsessed about getting the most gain he could out of them without having to use a pedal (which he did do in his early days). Using 50 watt heads allowed him to get away with that a little more. Dickey used 100 watt Marshalls, so he had to turn down a little bit, and that's why he was a bit cleaner than Duane as well. A good bit of his sound which nobody ever seems to talk about was in microphonics. He would play loud and distorted enough to where he was always RIGHT on the edge of feeding back. You can listen to a ton of live recordings of him where you will hear it feeding back - or almost feeding back. That may be one of the bigger components of his sound. Whenever he couldn't turn the amp all the way up, his sound definitely tended to suffer somewhat. Listen to the solos on like One Way Out on Fillmore East and/or Don't Keep Me Wonderin' there as well. Listen also to the power chords he's hitting at the end of Mountain Jam. That was SERIOUS amp distortion - especially for back then! He definitely manipulated the tone knobs more than probably any player ever, and you definitely got that part right. Finally - the speakers. I've heard anything from JBL's (which I think he was mostly using), Altecs & CV's. His cabinets were also open back on his top 2 speakers as well. Even though he supposedly was using the same pups from his gold top in his cherry '59 & in Hot 'Lanta at the end, I'm still convinced that the cherryburst was the best sounding guitar he had. Hot 'Lanta had just a little bit more of an upper mid/low high sound (certainly on the bridge pup) to it - just like the gold top. The cherryburst was the smoothest sounding sound he ever got, IMO. That's the one he used at FE. When you've got as little as he did in the signal chain, even slight wood differences can make a difference! Great video, though - and great playing as well!

    Congratulations. As I sit here watching your vid I am looking at 8 different slides on my desk. I've tried a lot (lots more than that over the years) and never found "the perfect one". At the moment I use mostly the Airiel Posen (ball end) model. But its not perfect. I wish the walls were a bit thicker. My best sounding slide is a Jim Dunlop flared end brass slide. I love the sound and the flare shape but it is a too heavy for a pinky slide. I need something lighter. How does the thickness/weight of your slide compare to the Ariel Posen one (which is also a Rock Slide product). They don't really describe wall thickness on the web site. Yours is a bit shorter and a bit smaller inner diameter, but I'm curious about the wall thickness.

    • @dylanadamsguitar
      @dylanadamsguitar 3 дня назад

      Hard to say what the wall thickness is compared to the Ariel since his has the closed end, but I can tell you mine is quite a bit lighter since it’s shorter, slightly smaller diameter, and doesn’t have the extra weight of the ball end. Mine still has enough weight feel to feel solid and have good tone/sustain, but is a lot more maneuverable in my opinion!

    • @donald-parker
      @donald-parker 3 дня назад

      @@dylanadamsguitar Thanks for the quick response. I get that you can't see thickness at the ball end but I was wondering about the open end. I need a fairly heavy slide so I get a clear sound without pushing the strings too hard (because I use 9's - I need light gauge strings to help accommodate some left hand RSI issues). But if it is too heavy it's hard to maintain a light touch with a pinky slide. Does that make sense? I have always found "the lighter the slide, the more pressure you need on the strings" whereas a heavy slide gives a super clear tone with the lightest of touches.

    Hi Dylan. Thanks for the update. Therockslide site says to measure your knuckle, which is 18.5mm on my pinky. Your slide is 16.5mm. But you don't slide the slide over your knuckle. 16.5 seems like it would be okay sliding up to my knuckle. What do you think about this. Thank you, Rob

    • @dylanadamsguitar
      @dylanadamsguitar 3 дня назад

      It could work, but there’s a good chance the slide will stop well before your knuckle, which may or may not be comfortable for you. It fits me with just enough wiggle room to be able to slip the whole slide over my finger if I wanted to, but I intentionally bend my finger to kind of “lock it in” and have it sit right at the knuckle. If you try it and it doesn’t fit then you should be able to return/exchange with The Rock Slide no problem!

    Nice vlog. I put my reverb pedal after the Lion. It works well for gigs that require DI. Does it replace my Friedman or Mesa? No, but it sounds great and gives me a fantastic DI gig tool that also records well. PS I do use pedals and it pairs up nicely with drives, phasers, and wah.
